A Custom Cosmetic Dentistry Solution
When it comes to perfecting a flawed smile, some cosmetic procedures have limitations. For example, a teeth whitening treatment will brighten stained teeth but patients with cracked or crooked teeth may still feel self-conscious about their smile. For patients with a number of smile imperfections, dental veneers are often considered a great option for producing a symmetrical and straight smile that is also vibrant looking. Dr. Corcoran and his skilled dental team provides a number of cosmetic treatments including the placement of porcelain veneers.
How Dental Veneers Transform the Appearance of a Smile
A major concern among patients with imperfect smiles is the lack of uniformity among the shape, size, color, and position of teeth. Fortunately, all of these flaws can be concealed with custom-made veneers. Made from the highest quality porcelain, veneers are very thin, tooth-shaped coverings that are permanently placed over the most visible part (outer surfaces) of teeth. Each veneer is made to fit over a specific tooth. Since these cosmetic enhancements are developed to match each patient’s unique characteristics, they will provide a natural enhancement to one’s smile.
When determining the size and shape of veneers, Dr. Corcoran will take the shape of the mouth, the amount of gum tissue in relation to exposed tooth structure, and the patient’s face shape into account. Receiving porcelain veneers normally requires two visits to our practice. During the first visit, Dr. Corcoran and his team will remove a thin layer of tooth enamel.
Once this minimally invasive process is complete, we will take impressions of the teeth so that dental technicians have a guide for crafting each veneer. After the veneers have been made by technicians and sent back to our office, the patient will return for the bonding process. At this appointment, the veneers will be placed on the teeth with a tooth-colored, cement-like compound. Final adjustments, if necessary, will be made and then a curing light will harden the bonding compound. After the bonding compound has hardened, patients will leave our office with a complete smile makeover free of stains, chips, cracks, and improperly positioned teeth.
